Capsules and crowns

Dental crowns, also known as capsules, are permanent prostheses used as a cover to replace the tooth’s natural crown, which is, in this way, “encapsulated”.
Crowns and capsules cover the natural tooth, they do not replace it, helping to give back your beautiful healthy smile without any long operations that are expensive, painful and too invasive.
The advantages of capsules and crowns
DDental capsules and crowns protect weakened teeth, making them more resistant, improving appearance and chewing for a long-lasting solution.
This kind of prosthesis is used when the dental crown is completely or partially consumed, and can therefore no longer guarantee correct chewing or properly act as a covering for the tooth. This occurs, for example, with teeth that are badly carious, devitalised, that have had root canal treatment or whose enamel is ruined by use.
Whereas in other cases, a capsule can be applied exclusively for aesthetic reasons, to improve colour or shape or when a tooth has been chipped or broken.
Our +HC network will carefully assess your condition in order to suggest the most effective solution.

Quick, almost non-invasive operation
Our network carries out application of dental capsules in three or four sessions, following various phases.
The first phase is preparation and consists of devitalising and filing the tooth to remove what remains of the natural crown and make room for the artificial one. During the second phase, a cast is taken of the tooth (impression), to be used as the model for laboratory preparation of the artificial crown. During the third phase, a temporary crown is applied, usually made from acrylic resin, until the permanent crown is ready (5-6 days).
The final phase see the permanent crown is cemented in place. The +HC network carries out all the preliminary check-ups to assess the changes in shape and colour suitable for every single patient.
We assist our patients at every stage of their treatment, including the post-op.
Innovative techniques and materials at your service
Types of dental crowns vary depending on the material they are made from (metal-ceramic, gold-ceramic, zirconia-ceramic, zirconia and all-ceramic).
We only use zirconia-ceramic crowns because these are considered the best in terms of aesthetic and functional results. They are resistant, biocompatible (they do not cause any kind of allergy) and guarantee long-lasting results. By avoiding the edge of the crown showing the black signs that are typical when metal is used, they offer excellent aesthetic results, even if the gums should start to recede due to periodontal disease (pyorrhoea).
The guarantee of materials made in Italy, the use of cutting-edge technologies and the professionalism of our health personnel ensure you worry-free procedures and results, without compromises and at affordable prices.
Zirconium crowns
Zirconia porcelain is used of metal to construct crowns and bridges. This material is white in colour and therefore ensures excellent results in terms of appearance, even when the gums are starting to recede. On the upper part (on the rims of the vrown or bridge) it prevents the formation of those dark marks typical of metal-porcelain crown.
Zirconium-ceramic is used instead of metal to make crowns and bridges. It is white in color, so it guarantees excellent aesthetic results, even when the gums begin to recede. At the top (on the edge of the crown or bridge) it prevents the formation of the black marks typical of metal-ceramic crowns.
This is the ideal material for recreating the colour, shape and position of the front teeth in single crowns or small bridges.
If bridges are called for, but the distance between the anchoring elements is greater than two teeth, zirconia porcelain is not the best choice.

Metal ceramic crowns
Metal ceramic crowns consist of a metal structure and ceramic covering layer. The metals employed in the fabrication of metal ceramic dental crowns are gold and chrome-cobalt, a nickel free material, in order to avoid allergic reactions.
Compared to zirconium crowns, metal ceramic crowns are more suitable for bridging large spans, as metal has a higher elasticity compared to zirconium.
The metal structure is made in our laboratory using the latest CAD/CAM technology, which provides additional precision and quality to the product.

Metal-free porcelain – E.MAX
Metal free porcelain is one of the latest techniques used in the constructions of crowns and bridgework. The elimination of a metal frame ensures aesthetically perfect and naturally coloured crowns and bridges, as well as preventing the appearance of black rims on the neck of teeth.
The most outstanding results can be achived on front teeth.

BIO HPP
Another novelty is that of proshesis moulding with BIO HPP: a material similiar in appearance to zirconia but more economical and not actually a metal.
The composite material, which reproduces the shape and colour of natural teeth, is applied to BIO HPP, with a reduced risk of tooth consumption. BIO HPP offers greater flexibility and better force transmission.
It is also recommender for circular bridgework.
